Cameroonian singer Libianca has released a remix of her breakout hit ‘People’. The updated version of the song, which guests Nigeria’s Ayra Starr and Omah Lay, is available for streaming and download here

Published on 5K Records, ‘People’ touches on topics of sadness and hiding behind false happiness, and finds its author navigating anxiety and depression through her vices.

“I was going through a lot during Thanksgiving week and felt so unseen,” the singer said about how the song came about. “Nobody noticed what was going on. I remembered thinking, I have to stay consistent with my content on social media, so I can’t afford to sit around in my emotions right now. So I walked past my room to the studio, found a beat and recorded it.”

Since its release, the original version of ‘People’ has amassed more than 110 million streams and more than 1 million TikTok creations. The track is currently at No 13 on the OCC UK Official Chart and maintained the top spot on the OCC UK Official Afrobeats Chart for five weeks.

On the remix, Ayra Starr and Omah Lay complement Libianca’s vocal efforts, melding to create a dreamy remix across the Afrobeats-tinged ballad.

Growing up between Cameroon and the US, Libianca blends the sounds of her childhood, to create her own Afropop-leaning sound. She has been listed as a Turntable Official Charts Artists to Watch for 2023.
